Google's Veo 3.1 is the strongest "generation plus native audio" model on the market in May 2026. Confirmed capabilities:

The frontier-model layer is commoditizing fast. Veo 3.1 will be Veo 4. Sora 2 is shutting down. Runway will ship Gen-5. Kling 4 is reportedly in training. Whichever model is "the best" today will be dethroned within 6 to 12 months, often by a model that did not exist when you started building.
